Ahoy!
Here we are on the verge of sailing season 2002. I don’t know about you but I am getting antsy to get out and have some fun. We had a board meeting last week. Many things were discussed. One of the items that really stood out to me was… To date we only have 45 of 90 some existing members paid as of Feb. 17.
We are doing a “clean house” this month. That is if members are not paid by Feb. 28 they will be removed from the active roster and mailing list. This is not because we do not want these members but we cannot continue to put forth efforts toward members who have lost interest in supporting our club. What we do want to do is involve and recruit more sailors who do want to play. I encourage all members to help out at least once during the year. We have many socials and races this year. Each one involves volunteers to make it happen. Please call Rick Jarrett 704-795-4445 for socials or Andrew Howell for race committee 704-483-7838

Upcoming events include:
For those looking to fine tune their skills or just getting into the sport of sailing . PYC is planning on sponsoring a NORTH U racing seminar on the weekend of April 13. Need 40 interested people to have class. Cost is around $100.00 includes course material and instruction. Sound good to me! Please respond to Robert McClure ASAP so that we can get the North U. class scheduled.
Want to get involved? The next board meeting will be Saturday March 16th 4:00pm at Mariner Villas (just before Chester’s
delicious frogmore stew).
Hope to see you on the water or at the Frogmore Stew and St. Pactricks Day Celebration March 16!
Cheers
Commodore, John Ogden

Chili Cook-Off
Our Chili Cook-Off was a great
success! I got the chance to see some old friends and also make new ones. Every batch of Chili was outstanding and unique in taste. I loved watching Larry Karriker breaking out in a sweat from the spices (I was too!). From the look of the empty pots, I think everyone had a hard time deciding which was their favorite.

The Winners!

Chip Richardson-first place
Don Corey-second place
John Scott third place

Don’t forget our St. Patrick’s Day Frogmore Stew on March 16 at Mariner Villas at 6 PM. We will have a social hour from 6-7PM and dinner at 7PM. Chester promises another tasty batch and I’ll have plenty of liquid refreshments for everyone to enjoy. It’s $10 per person.

We have our Spring Invitational scheduled for May 18-19 and I am asking for your help. We need get sponsorship for raffle prizes. I know that seems like a long way off but it will be here before we know it. Please let me know if you have any items to donate for raffle or can help me in soliciting businesses for gift certificates or products.

Rear Commodore, Rick Jarrett
